Spent one year on civil  service in Germany.
1996 - 1999
Undergraduate studies at the Universität Würzburg (Würzburg, Germany) with Vordiplom (~ equivalent to Bachelor's of Science degree) in physics.
9/1999 - 10/2004
Graduate studies at Rutgers University (New Jersey, USA), with professor Gordon Thomson. I started in the M.S. program, then switched to the Ph.D. program in 2000. I joined the HiRes collaboration at the beginning of my graduate studies.

Ph.D. degree at Rutgers University. My Ph.D. thesis and defense can be seen at: Ph.D. thesis
10/2004 - 12/2004
Work as a post-doc at Rutgers University on HiRes.
01/2005 - 01/2007
Work as a post-doc on the Pierre Auger Observatory at the LPNHE (Laboratoire de physique nucléaire et de hautes énergies) in Paris. Two-year Marie Curie fellowship from the European Union.
01/2007 until now
Position as a "Maître de Conférence" (Teaching/Research) at the Observatoire de Paris at Meudon. I have joined the H.E.S.S. collaboration at the LUTH laboratory (Laboratoire Univers et Théories).
