 Location and entrances

The LUTH is installed in building 18, formerly called LAM (Laboratoire d’Astrophysique de Meudon) now known as the Evry Schatzman building. There is a 10 minutes walk from the site entrances to building 18.

The pedestrian and bikes entrance to the Meudon site is situated at: 5 Place Jules Janssen. This entrance is opened and watched by a guardian from 8h00 to 18h00 every week day. In case of absence of the guardian, or outside office hours, it is only possible to access the site by the vehicle entrance.

The vehicle entrance is at 11 avenue Marcellin Berthelot. The entrance of the Meudon site is open from 8h00 to 18h00 every week day. From 18h00 to 8h00 and on weekends, only authorized people can access the site.

 Road Access

Via the Peripherique: exit at Quai d’Issy, take the direction Issy-les-Moulineaux, then Sèvres, then Meudon.

By National route 118: starting from the Pont de Sèvres take the direction Chartres Orléans, exit at Meudon Sèvres then go towards Meudon.

 Access by public transport

RER C
Take trains of the RER C going in the direction of Versailles Rive Gauche and get off at Meudon Val Fleury. Take the rue de Banès, turn left into the rue de Paris, cross the rue de la Republique to take the rue de Terre Neuve up to the Place Jules Janssen. The ascent (rather steep) takes 15 min (25 min for building 18).

N Line from Paris-Montparnasse
From Montparnasse station in Paris take N line trains in the direction of Versailles-Chantiers, Rambouillet, Chartres, etc… Get off either at:
- the 3rd stop: Meudon (after Vanves-Malakoff and Clamart). Exit the station and turn right (rue Claude Dalsème) and after 200m turn right again then go straight towards the summit of the hill (avenues le Corbeiller puis Jacqueminot); 15 min walk (25 min for building 18).
- the 4th stop: Bellevue. Exit the station and turn left to take the avenue du Château which rises with a gentle slope, ending at the Observatory pedestrian entrance; 15 min walk (25 min for building 18).

Bus from Bellevue station and Val Fleury station
The TIM is a bus that makes a loop on Meudon from 7:00 am to 7:25 pm, it leaves from Bellevue station at 7h00 and from Val Fleury station at 7h20, then every hour (until 19h00 and 19h20), and goes up to Jules Janssen place (Observatory stop).

Practical information and schedules

Métro + bus
Use line 12 (Porte de la Chapelle/Mairie d’Issy). At the terminus Mairie d’Issy take the bus 169 in the direction of the Pont de Sèvres and get off at the stop Rabelais or else Eglise de Meudon, and take the street that goes up to the hill ; 10 min walk (20 min for building 18).
